Mr Sonowal inaugurates NUSI Salaah

National Union of Seafarers India (NUSI) delegation comprising of Mr Abdulgani Y Serang General Secretary -cum- Treasurer, Mr Milind Kandalgaonkar, Assistant General Secretary and Mr Prakash Thakur, NUSI New Delhi Branch Representative met Mr Sarbananda Sonowal, Honourable Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways in New Delhi to discuss seafarers issues and inaugurate NUSI Salaah – Professional Wellbeing and Career Counselling for children and women family members of all ranks of seafarers.

Mr Serang informed that many seafarers’ issues, particularly seafarers’ vaccination, crew change, employment opportunities in the cruise sector, were taken up for discussion. Many activities planned to celebrate 75 years of Indian Independence under the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav under the Directorate General of Shipping were also highlighted.

Mr Sonowal assured the delegation of his support and guidance for the benefit of the seafarers and their families in particular and the shipping fraternity in general. He wished NUSI Salaah success in its endeavours.
